An apprenticeship in print production gave me a keen eye for detail, a craving for order, for process and for rigour. It also showed me, the hard way, what happens when creatives don’t understand the process beyond their own scribbled ideas.

I transferred those skills to train as a designer in an ad agency. That sharpened my conceptual skills and gave me a new appreciation of designing on a blank sheet of paper. Learning to code gave me a deeper understanding of web design, of what’s possible and where you can push the usual boundaries. Making ideas and thoughts come alive on screen is incredible.

One day, all creatives will code. One day, all coders will be creative. For now, you’ve got me.
